The formative years of his training provided him with extensive clinical and research experience across Rehabilitation Medicine and Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr Yong also holds a Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering (Research) with a focus on Spinal Orthopaedic Surgery, and he has presented his work at both national and international conferences.

Dr Yong currently serves as a Senior Medical Officer in Rehabilitation Medicine at Canossa Private Hospital, where he cares for patients with complex needs and diverse rehabilitation goals. He also provides subspecialty services including image-guided pain management procedures and botulinum toxin injections for spasticity management. These roles have enabled him to appreciate the need for ongoing rehabilitation across the continuum of inpatient and outpatient settings, and the importance of catering to each patient’s individual biopsychosocial circumstances.

He is a Visiting Medical Officer at the Mater Hospital South Brisbane, contributing to the Queensland Centre of Excellence in Autism and Intellectual Disability Health, consulting on patients with intellectual disability and autism. Dr Yong also consults at Sunnybank, providing outpatient care tailored to individual rehabilitation needs.

Dr Yong finds deep fulfilment in providing holistic care that integrates medical management, education, and counselling-based support for patients, carers, and families. His approach also embraces faith-based care and the biopsychosocial aspects of recovery.

He holds private admitting rights at Canossa Private Hospital, Oxley, and offers inpatient, multidisciplinary rehabilitation for patients with private health insurance, DVA, WorkCover, and NIISQ.
