Dr Ken Chau

Nephrologist
Dr. Ken Chau obtained his Bachelor of Medicine, Surgery, and Obstetrics (MB BCh BAO) from Queen’s University Belfast, Northern Ireland, in 2014. He began his early medical training in the United Kingdom before moving to Australia. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) with specialist qualifications in Nephrology. His areas of interest include, but are not limited to, the management of glomerulonephritis/vasculitis, chronic kidney disease (CKD), hypertension, renal anaemia, and renal replacement therapy.
Dr. Chau completed his basic physician training and advanced nephrology training at multiple hospitals across Queensland, including Princess Alexandra Hospital, Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, Gold Coast University Hospital, Rockhampton Hospital, and Cairns Hospital. This diverse training background provided him with extensive experience in general nephrology, dialysis, and renal transplantation. Currently, Dr. Chau serves as a Glomerulonephritis Fellow at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and a Visiting Medical Officer at Greenslopes Private Hospital. He is actively involved in research, with a primary focus on ANCA-associated vasculitis as part of his PhD at Griffith University. He has presented at international conferences and co-authored publications.
Additionally, he is committed to medical education and holds an appointment as an Associate Lecturer with the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Queensland. Fluent in Mandarin and Cantonese, Dr. Chau ensures effective communication with patients from Chinese non-English-speaking backgrounds, fostering a comprehensive and inclusive healthcare experience.
